EAEU pharmaceutical manufacturers signed a declaration on drug quality control

On June 2, 2021, the SPIEF solemnly signed the Declaration on Policy in the Development, Production, Quality Control and Safety Monitoring of Medicines by member companies of the Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers of the Eurasian Economic Union.

According to the representatives of the association, the main goal of this declaration is to increase the confidence of patients and doctors in the quality of Russian medicines. To this end, drug manufacturing companies are publicly taking on increased commitments to promote patient-centered approach in the healthcare system at all stages of the drug lifecycle.

The signing of the declaration was initiated by the Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Stanislav Naumov, Chairman of the Board of AFPEAEU, wrote on his FB page: “The idea of the Declaration was born last year, when we relaunched the # Pharma2030 Association. We are creating a new standard: “Russian means high quality, effective, safe”.

Stanislav Naumov added that within the framework of the declaration, the association will deal with:

• Additional information to the patient community about the drugs being developed and in circulation.
• Development of an ethical code of interaction with the medical, patient community and the regulator.
• Comprehensive elaboration of measures to support local production, taking into account the interests of all interested parties.
• Improvement of the pharmacovigilance system, including additional training for company employees and the development of a mechanism for responding to reports of adverse reactions to drugs developed by members of the Association.

The manufacturers who signed the documents hope that the authorities will get involved in their innovation. The association includes 10 largest companies that shape the drug market in the country.
